Sections
Further there are presented general indicative criteria which define the nature of individual sections, both regular and irregular. A decision on the inclusion of individual papers in sections rests with the chief editor.
Treatise
- Extent: 25,000 – 65,000 characters incl. spaces and footnotes
- Peer reviewed section
- Parameters:
An in-depth theoretical analysis of narrowly defined legal issues containing detailed annotations. It factors in theoretical aspects of the analysed issues and is based on the present professional discussion on the topic which it also cites. It takes relevant published literature (factually or in annotations) incl. foreign literature into account, as well as legal sources incl. case law. There can be no more that one treatise in each issue of the journal.
- Required supplements: an abstract in both Czech and English, key words in Czech and English
Article
- Extent: 15,000 – 50,000 characters incl. spaces and footnotes
- Peer reviewed section
- Parameters:
A research (analytical) or summary (synthetic) paper looking into a particular legal issue of legal theory and practice. Unlike a treatise, its topic may be more widely defined, it may be shorter, and when evaluating it, less emphasis is put on the depth of topic elaboration. It contains detailed annotations and must take account of relevant literature and case law. The primary aim of the article is not to present or promote a particular opinion but to present a scientific finding. While an analytical article systematically analyses a particular question (e.g. by a comparative method), a summary article contains a summary of legal regulation or development of institutes and issues, or it contains a systematically organised synthesis of standpoints published to date on a particular subject.
